The O’Connell Center acts as an approved agency where qualified students may complete their field experience/practicum/independent study hours. We provide a practical learning environment, with the opportunity to participate in various activities related to the day-to-day operations of the facility and its events. The intent of this program is to offer an opportunity to understand all of the details that go into the management of a multi-purpose arena from the front line standpoint and to understand how to apply these experiences to managerial decision making. Field Experience students gain hands-on experience in:

  • Setting Events
  • Shadowing of Supervisors
  • Ticket Taking
  • Overnight Changeover
  • Working Technical Crews
  • Teamwork
  • Securing of Parking Lots
  • Plus much more!

Opportunities to participate in our field experience program are limited to the fall and spring semesters. While we offer flexibility in your volunteer schedule, due to the nature of our industry field experience students are expected to have weekend and night availability.
